Mission:
Omega’s
mission is to provide higher learning education opportunities for all
ages throughout their academic years.
Beliefs:
The
administration and teachers trust the following belief must hold true
for the overall success of the Center:
Student
Achievement Goals
Goal #1 Students will increase their Enrichment skills
with a focus on Reading Comprehension and Math word problems.
Goal #2 Students will increase mastery of Fluency in
Reading “No Excuse/ Power Verbs” and Fluency in Math
Addition/Subtraction/Multiplication and Division facts.

Teachers
will utilize a framework for data analysis to create engaging
sessions that increase student achievement at higher thinking levels.
Goal
#1
Students
will increase their Enrichment skills with a focus on Reading
comprehension and Math word problems.
Strategy

Increase
the proficient use of Reading and Math Enrichment concepts and skills
in both content areas.
What
student will do:
Use
advanced critical thinking skills in reading comprehension
Make
predictions from investigations
Use
inferences and context clues during reading comprehension exercises
Identify/categorize
numbers in math word problems
Use
math reasoning when problem solving
What
teachers will do:
Review
the student’s WJIII assessment results to customize the
enrichment in the area of reading and/or math.
Utilize
10 minutes of each session for either reading enrichment and/or math
enrichment with a mind stretching enrichment activity to increase
fluency and encourage abstract thinking.
Utilize
various strategies for differentiated learners by using
manipulatives; such as pizza fractions, skip bo, uno, boggle, banana
grams, reading a-z, and other enrichment activities.
Incorporate
Math Logic puzzles
Communicate
progress daily with the parents and school teachers via “tutor
correspondence reports”.
Evaluate
the student’s needs at the parent ½ point conference
and make adjustments
Give
student quizzes within their program objectives to determine mastery
using strategies designed for differentiated learners.
Goal
#2
Students will increase mastery of fluency in Reading “No
Excuse/ Power Verbs” and fluency in Math
addition/subtraction/multiplication and division facts.
Strategy
#2
Increase mastery and fluency of frequently used words,
power verbs and basic math facts.
What
students will do:
Utilize
10 minutes of every session with flash drills of “no excuse”
words and/or timed math fluency tests.
Demonstrate
understanding of the frequency words by successfully using the word
in context through verbal and or written expression.
Demonstrate
understanding of the basic math fluency facts by successfully giving
the answers through verbal and or written expression.
What
teachers will do:
Utilize
content-specific vocabulary, power words and embellishments.
Provide
various teaching strategies designed for differentiated learners
including word walls and index cards.
Provide
remedial support for students throughout their program length.
Communicate
progress and academic goals daily with the parents and school
teachers via “tutor correspondence reports” to include a
list of ideas and ways families can support students.
Evaluate
the student’s needs at the parent ½ point conference
and make adjustments
Give
student fluency quizzes within their program objectives to determine
mastery.
